Join Austin Aquarium for Navy Day at the aquarium on March 23rd from 1-4pm. The Navy will be showing off both old and new diving equipment and demonstrating robotics that is part of their explosive ordnance disposal functions.
All visitors to the aquarium will have a chance to interact with Navy staff and their displays regardless of the time of day they attend. Every 10-15 minutes a new rotation will take place of the demonstrations. Attendees will have a chance to try on a diving helmet or operate a robot that is skilled at going into dangerous bomb situations and removing explosives without endangering human life.
The Navy reaches out into communities each year through their event they call “Navy Week”. Locations vary from year to year. In chosen cities they spread out like octopuses trying to touch as many community members as they can. They visit schools, they speak to the press, the Navy Band performs and they go to destination spots to share important Navy facts and equipment to let the public experience “everything Navy”. Austin Aquarium is just one stop on their busy agenda during their week in Austin, Texas.
